What to Expect
Is the Fire Real? Yes. The embers will be glowing red-hot, and the temperature can often be measured at around 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. You will have bare feet, and they will not have been treated in any way.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW..
Will it hurt? The sensation has been described as walking on hot sand or across broken egg shells. Each Fire Walker will have their own experience. UK Fire Walk have not known walkers to experience pain, and many choose to walk across the coals more than once.
Will I have an opportunity to walk across the coals more than once? Yes.
Will photographs be taken? Yes. The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta photographer will endeavour to take photographs of individual walkers and a digital copy made available on our social media. Group photographs may also be taken by the PODRR and UK Fire Walk after the event.
How should I prepare? Participants must attend the training seminar where Scott and his team will explain the science behind how it is possible to walk across fire without being burnt and will cover all the required aspects of health and safety. No other preparation required.
What Should I wear? Casual comfortable clothing but please be aware that the ash can be quite dirty and therefore, clothing may become stained. Easily removable footwear is recommended, flip flops would be ideal. Nail varnish and toe rings are acceptable but please ensure feet are clean and absolutely no massage oil, essential oil or foot lotion to be applied prior to participation. It might be useful to bring a small hand towel to clean feet following the walk.
Can Anybody Participate? Anybody age 12+ ( parental consent required for U18’s, please also ensure they can fully engage and comprehend all training given). Anybody who can walk reasonably well should be able to complete the Fire Walk. If in doubt, please consult your GP prior to participation.
Is it safe? There is an inherent risk with any activity involving fire. It is important that participants pay attention to all the training and heed the advice and instruction of the trainer, firewatchers and spotters. Whilst absolute safety is not guaranteed proper procedure reduces risk to the achievable minimum.
The event is hosted by Scott’s professional and highly experienced team and has been fully risk assessed and insured.
Please read the GUIDELINES for the firewalk prior to attending, these will also be available on the evening.
Registration fee: £15 per entry. Funds raised will go to local charities.
