REGATTA FUNDAY Family activities and entertainment all day! For locals and visitors alike, the Regatta Family Funday marks the start of Regatta Week. This year the organisers are pleased to announce this year there will be much more fun for the family, with many activities and entertainment, and in the evening, Dartmouth’s first ever Silent Disco! We are really looking forward to the Dartmouth School of Dance and the Dartington Morris Men perform, but the usual entertaining silliness and circus skills workshops will also be in the mix with firm Regatta favourite Professor Bumble.
New for 2019 are the Fun Four Competitions. These are free to enter and just for fun, so start planning now - there will be prizes!
Parent & Child Lookalike competition – Parents do you have an offspring under 16 who looks like you? Do you wear similar clothes? Come and show us!
Most extraordinary Hat – Make a sensational, stunning, spectacular entrance in your outrageous head gear! Open to all ages!
Cute baby – Think smiles, gurgles, cheekiness. If your baby is between 0 and 2 years and has any of these attributes come along and join in the fun!
Most ugly shoe – High heels, low heels, colourful or weird. Can you appear in a pair that will horrify the audience?!
The infamous Regatta Dog Show will of course make an appearance with a special guest judge to be announced. Lots of classes, lots of dogs and lots of prizes. Find out who will be Regatta Top Dog! Kindly sponsored by Joules of Dartmouth and Dartmouth Pet Shop.
At 6.30pm the Royal Avenue Gardens will be transformed into Dartmouth’s first ever silent disco to enjoy in a magnificent setting. There will be two music channels to choose from, but don’t watch your friends or family, play your own game and boogie the evening away to your own tune! This event kindly sponsored by Dartmouth Gin with refreshments and a Dartmouth Gin bar.

Our Regatta Craft Market returns after a successful 2018, with a fabulous choice of wonderful traders. It will be held on Thursday 29 August & Saturday 31 August from 9am - 5pm. From silver jewellery to nautical gifts to gin, there is a wide choice of shopping for you set within our Old Market Square in the centre of town.
With food and drink available from Dart to Mouth Deli, the Market Cafe, and Wild Food Devon plus musical entertainment from Ben Carr & Becky Brine, it is sure to be a favourite place for you to spend a couple of hours. In addition to the market stalls, there are many lovely shops to browse too.

You are in for a patriotic treat with our Proms in the Park on Friday 30 August. With the amazing BRNC Volunteer Band, made up of ex servicemen, and local musicians you can expect an evening to remember. There will be narration from John Suchet to complete the magic.
Liberty Sisters Supporting the big band will be the Liberty Sisters, a vintage vocal trio, singing tunes from the 40’s in perfect harmony. Yvonne Patrick, our Soprano for the evening, has an outstanding voice and during her career has performed with the Glyndebourne Opera Co and was invited to appear as soprano soloist in the Centenary Gala Concert of the Philadelphia Savoy Company, the oldest Gilbert and Sullivan society in America. Other concerts include Mozart Requiem in Nairobi Cathedral and Friday Night is Music Night with the BBC Concert Orchestra. Aelfwyn Shipton, International LED Violinist A unique performer, Aelfwyn is an international freelance violinist and composer who is on a mission to explore the musical language through her instruments and voice. From session playing to aerial violin, Aelfwyn lives and breaths music. In addition to performing at some of the worlds most prestigious venues and events, including Blenheim Palace, the O2 arena and Glastonbury, Aelfwyn is also responsible for the creation of the worlds only mirrorball violin act, Mirabelle, an LED act, Lumolin, and an Aerial Violin act.
General Information The whole evening is wrapped up by a fireworks display. It will certainly be a night to remember! Dress accordingly, bring blankets to sit on, wave your flags and get ready to sing at full volume! Please note – there will be no food and drink allowed into the arena but there are food and drink outlets at the venue. All visitors will have wrist bands so you can come and go throughout the evening. Please note that no dogs are allowed except guide dogs.
